Once a month, a neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Silver Lake, LA was transformed into a beloved destination for music, dance, fashion, and performance art.  Much more than just a dance club, Dragstrip 66 was an irreverent and decadent celebration of
self-expression, community, and imagination that invited everyone to participate in its misfit-inspired magic.

Dragstrip 66: The Frockumentary is a sponsored project of Film Independent, a non-profit independent media arts organization.
Film Independent will receive grants for the charitable purposes of Dragstrip 66: The Frockumentary, provide oversight to ensure that grant funds are used in accordance with grant agreements and provide reports as required by the grantor.

Dragstrip 66 was the safe space where all artists, misfits, and strange kids got together to party in the basement.

Monthly themes like “Florence Of Arabia”, “Jocks ‘N Frocks”, “Trannie Get Your Gun”, and “Vegas In Space” inspired an explosion of spectacular and imaginative patron personas.

It all went down like a wild John Waters movie starring KISS and The Ramones -- as styled by Bob Mackie and Goodwill.

Featuring provocative live performances, cutting-edge dance music, and subversive drag, Dragstrip 66: The Frockumentary gives the audience an immersive experience that simulates the exciting and celebratory vibe of the club.
